Read more about our incredible evening host Andrea Martin!
Andrea Martin is a multi-talented award winning actress, whose work transcends all mediums. For her show-stopping performance as ‘Berthe’ in the 2013 Broadway Revival of Pippin, Martin won the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics, and Eliot Norton awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She quickly followed this by receiving the Outer Critics Outstanding Featured Actress Award for her work in James Lapine’s Broadway adaptation of Moss Hart’s Act One, (which aired on PBS), where she played multiple roles portraying three very influential women in Moss Hart’s life. Prior to this, she received both Drama Desk and Outer Critics Award nominations for her role as ‘Juliette’ in the Broadway production of Exit the King, opposite Geoffrey Rush and Susan Sarandon. Other Broadway credits include: ‘Frau Blucher’ in Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein (Tony, Drama Desk nomination), and her Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominated performances as ‘Aunt Eller’ in Oklahoma, ‘The Old Lady’ in Candide, and ‘Alice’ in My Favorite Year at Lincoln Center (Tony, Drama Desk and Theatre World Awards). Martin tours North America with her one-person show, Final Days! Everything Must Go!!
Ms. Martin received two Emmy Awards for writing and an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Variety Series for her work on the legendary sketch comedy show, SCTV. Martin also received a special Emmy for her contributions on Sesame Street. Her further Television work includes: Nurse Jackie; 30 Rock; and her own special for ShowTime, Andrea Martin, Together Again. She starred in the NBC/Shaw series Working the Engels, for which she was nominated for an ACTRA Award and a CSA.
Martin’s film appearances include: Club Paradise; Wag the Dog; The Producers; Hedwig and the Angry Inch; All Over the Guy; Night at the Museum 3; and My Big Fat Greek Wedding (SAG Award nomination, Best Ensemble and People’s Choice Award).
Andrea Martin’s critically acclaimed book “Lady Parts” was released by Harper Collins.
In 2016, according to reviews, Andrea Martin “alone may be worth the price of admission” in her scene-stealing role of bossy ‘Aunt Voula’ in the long-awaited sequel, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. She completed an incredibly successful run, starring on Broadway in Noises Off! in the hysterical role of ‘Dotty Otley’, and earning Martin another Tony nomination; while simultaneously shooting the second season of Hulu’s Difficult People, starring Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner, and produced by Amy Poehler; in her perfectly blended, apathetic, yet astute, role of Julie Klausner’s mother, ‘Marilyn’. Last year, Martin also joined the cast of the NBC event, Hairspray Live!, playing Ariana Grande’s mom.
Last year, Martin filmed the third and final season of the critically-acclaimed Difficult People. She just wrapped the second season of her NBC hit comedy series Great News, written by Tracey Wigfield and produced by Tina Fey. Currently, Martin can been seen in the CBS fan-favorite series The Good Fight and will be seen this year on the big screen, starring in the films Little Italy and Diane.
